SAN FRANCISCO – October 12, 2022 – Bospar, the “politely pushy” PR firm that puts tech companies on the map, today announced that PRWeek named Curtis Sparrer, agency co-founder and principal, 2022’s Most Purposeful Agency Pro for his leadership role in launching Bospar Stands Up, the agency’s human rights and social justice initiative dedicated to the rights of women, LGBTQIA+ and minorities.
In 2015, Sparrer decided to combine two different sides of his life — tech PR and champion of social justice programs for LGBTQIA+, women and minorities. The result was Bospar, now a fast-growing tech PR and marketing agency. From Oct. 2021 to Oct.2022, Bospar’s revenues increased by 60%, from nearly $11 million to more than $18 million. A commitment to diversity is at the heart of everything Bospar does.
The agency’s leadership is expressly 50% LGBTQIA+, a work-from-home program has been in place since 2015 to support parents and a DE&I task force acts as a checks-and-balances system to assure an ethical DE&I work culture. Bospar is also an industry leader, advocating for greater visibility for LGBTQIA+ PR professionals.
Through Bospar Stands Up, Sparrer – and Bospar – equally and financially back up their commitments to fighting for women’s reproductive rights and civil liberties for the LGBTQIA+ community. The agency will cover moving expenses up to $10,000 for any employee who wants to relocate out of a state with anti-abortion laws. The agency also launched We Say Gay and offers a $20,000 grant to assist educators fighting against Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Legislation. The campaign’s ripple effect for the grant included a retweet from actor and activist George Takei to his 3.4 million followers.
Sparrer’s efforts have resulted in an agency that is diverse by many measures — faiths, ages and identities — and always true to its mission.
“Right after I won PRWeek’s Most Purposeful Agency Pro, Virginia Devlin, the CEO of Current Global, congratulated me, saying she was happy to be my bridesmaid,” said Sparrer. “I immediately blurted out: ‘it should have been you!’ There are so many incredible nominees who I was certain would win, including Virginia; Valarie De La Garza, CEO of Fenton; Peter Finn, CEO and founder of Finn Partners; and Melody Serafino, co-founder of No. 29 Communications. Ultimately, I wouldn’t be here without my courageous colleagues at Bospar who inspire me to match their level of passion, excellence and, yes, purpose.”
