Bospar also recognized for its work in Crisis Management; Principal Curtis Sparrer named a 2023 PRNEWS People of the Year
SAN FRANCISCO — Oct.19, 2023 – Bospar, the “politely pushy” PR and marketing firm that puts tech companies on the map, today announced it won three 2023 PRNEWS Platinum Awards, including for Agency of the Year: Medium, and for Crisis Management Campaign for its work with San Francisco Pride. Bospar Principal Curtis Sparrer was named an honoree in the class of 2023 PRNEWS People of the Year in the agency CEOs category.
The awards were presented on October 18 at the Platinum Awards Gala in New York. Along with Bospar, honorees included Jeep, Pepsi, Priceline, McDonald’s, the Smithsonian National Zoo and Unilever.
For over two decades, the PRNEWS Platinum Awards have been hailed as the most coveted and competitive award in the fields of public relations, communications and marketing. The PRNEWS People of the Year Awards showcases the innovative and inspiring professionals making a quantifiable impact on their organization and the communications industry at large.
“This recognition shows that Bospar’s PR work drives business results,”said Sparrer. “Bospar not only competes with some of the best agencies in the world. We also competed with brands like McDonald’s, Priceline, and Jeep.”
Bospar’s Platinum Award win for Crisis Management Campaign illustrates the company’s mastery of crisis management and is an example of the excellent collection of work that led to its Agency of the Year award win. San Francisco’s Pride event nearly imploded in 2022 over the issue of whether police officers should march in uniform. Some felt uniformed officers shouldn’t march to respect those who felt uniforms were historically triggering, especially for Black people. San Francisco’s mayor weighed in, saying she wouldn’t march if uniformed police couldn’t. The incumbent PR team quit on May 25 – just three business days before Pride Month kicked off – and right before Memorial Day Weekend!
Bospar jumped in, developing an agreement to unite the parties and helping fundraise to ensure San Francisco Pride would go as planned. SF Pride credits Bospar with saving the event and bringing in $1.9 million in funding. Following the project, SF Pride commissioned Bospar to become its AOR.
In addition to winning the PRNEWS Platinum Awards and the People of the Year recognition this year, Bospar won nearly 25 industry awards in 2023, including five North America Sabre awards and seven PRovoke Sabree Innovation awards. Bospar also was named to Fortune’s America’s Most Innovative Companies list – the only PR agency to receive the recognition – and Financial Times’ The Americas’ Fastest-Growing Companies 2023 list. Inc. also recently recognized Bospar’s continued growth, listing Bospar as one of the 2023 Inc. 5000 fastest-growing companies in America for the third consecutive year.
