Bospar wins PRNews 2023 Nonprofit Award for “Event PR” for work with San Francisco PRIDE

SAN FRANCISCO, March 15, 2023Bospar, the “politely pushy” PR and marketing firm that puts tech companies on the map, has been named a PR News 2023 Nonprofit Award winner for best “Event PR” in recognition of its work for San Francisco PRIDE. Each year, PRNews honors the most talented communicators working hard to improve the world via nonprofit initiatives.

Bospar also received three honorable mentions for its work with San Francisco PRIDE: in “Diversity and Inclusion Campaign,” “Media Relations” and “PR on a Shoestring Budget” categories for its work.

San Francisco PRIDE’s PR team quit three business days before PRIDE kicked off on June 1. This was the first parade since COVID, and there was a split among San Francisco PRIDE members over the participation of police officers in uniform. Bospar jumped in feet first, designed the compromise that allowed the celebrations to go as planned and led the PR effort that brought the community together and ensured people attended. Bospar’s program led to SF Pride and San Francisco Police Officers Pride Alliance agreeing to build future resolution dialogue. San Francisco PRIDE credits PR for saving the event while bringing in $1.9 million in funding.

“Bospar used the same tactics and strategies we use for our tech clients to help save San Francisco PRIDE,” said Curtis Sparrer, a co-founder and principal of Bospar and an outspoken advocate for LGTBQIA+ rights. “Saving the parade required a full on-board PR effort, from crisis communications to content development and media relations, and the program’s success is due to the tireless efforts of our incredible team here at Bospar, who understood it was all hands on deck and brought their passion, creativity and commitment every step of the way. I’m thrilled that PR News recognizes the effort required to ensure the event succeeded.”

“This year’s Nonprofit Award winners demonstrate the tremendous impact that communications has on so many important issues of today,” says Erika Bradbury, editorial director of PRNews. “This year’s list includes successful advocacy and fundraising campaigns, as well as work that creates more inclusive opportunities for underrepresented groups, often with limited budgets and resources.”
