Bospar, Curtis Sparrer earn multiple PR News Social Impact Awards

SAN FRANCISCO, February 15, 2023 Bospar, the “politely pushy” PR and marketing firm that puts tech companies on the map, announced today it has been named by PRNews a 2023 Social Impact Awards winner in several categories, in recognition of being one of the most impactful communicators. Each year, PRNews’ awards program recognizes outstanding CSR and DEI initiatives in the PR and communications industry.

Curtis Sparrer, a Bospar principal and co-founder, was named CSR Professional of the Year and an LGBTQIA2+ Pioneer and received the Ally Award. Sparrer was one of six individuals named in special recognition.

Bospar took home three awards for its pivotal work for San Francisco PRIDE. Pride Proud won best campaign by LGBTQIA2+ owner; best LGBTQIA2+ centered campaign; and best diversity and inclusion initiative.

Sparrer spearheaded  Bospar’s efforts when San Francisco PRIDE  lost its PR team three business days before Pride month kicked off on June 1. This was the first parade since COVID, and there was a split among San Francisco PRIDE members over participation of police officers in uniform. Sparrer and team designed the compromise – and led the PR effort — that allowed the celebrations to go on as planned.

“We knew we had limited time to get the results we needed,” said Sparrer. “To ensure we’d get maximum impact, we took a page from our PR tech best practices playbook – assessing the challenge; conducting research, beginning with gathering data; implementing a strategy steeped in data and with clearly defined objectives; and, finally, detailing how we would execute to achieve those objectives,” said Sparrer. “We placed 173 stories in less than 30 days, turning sentiment around and helping to ensure that this historic event went on as planned. The (large) cherry on the cake is being recognized by our peers for this effort.”

“The winners for this year’s Social Impact Awards are exemplary models of corporate social responsibility and diversity, equity and inclusion,” said Erika Bradbury, editorial director of PRNEWS. “Our honorees deserve to be recognized for their work in their respective communities, and it’s a privilege to recognize them for their commitments.”
